As a faith community centered around the person of Jesus Christ we’re committed to serving others like he did. While we realize that much of our service happens outside the four walls of this building—in informal settings like our workplaces, neighborhoods and families—there are always unique opportunities to serve others together and thereby practically demonstrate our love for God and neighbor. Here are a few of those opportunities. If you are interested in participating, we are happy to welcome you. Please contact the office to sign up or get more information. 302-738-4415

Cleaning Teams
Cleaning teams work together to keep our building beautiful (and clean). Cleaning teams are on a rotating schedule and each team cleans the church once every 5-6 weeks. Want to join a team? Would you like to start your own team? Teams range in size from couples to 5 or more people. It’s a very rewarding to serve on a cleaning team.
Cafe Teams
Café teams work together to make sure that our café is stocked and ready to go before and after each Sunday service. Light breakfast prep and coffee brewing, including cleaning up after the service keeps these team members busy.
Audio Visual Team
Audio-visual teams work together behind the scenes to ensure that the technology we employ for each service is fully functional. These team members also operate the equipment before, during, and after the service.
OUTREACH MINISTRIES
Friendship House
- Friendship House of Wilmington finished their 11th season of Winter Weekend Hospitality. These weekends offer homeless men (who have nowhere else to go) sanctuary from the elements, a hot cup of coffee, and a solid team of church volunteers who create a communal presence that gives these folks a sense of being welcomed by the church and not simply being given sanctuary in a church. Coordinated by Brian and Audrey Elsbernd, a team of Eastpointers volunteers every 2nd Sunday of the month at West Presbyterian Church located at 8th and Washington St. in Wilmington, DE. On bitterly cold weekends, these winter santuaries undoubtedly save lives. We’ll keep you posted as to when the team will meet during the 09-10 season.
- Say Yebo (Yebo is the African Zulu word for “yes”), is dedicated to building orphan villages in sub-Saharan Africa. Millions of children are orphaned, homeless, and lost due to the AIDS pandemic that is sweeping the African continent. Say Yebo, in cooperation with the Agathos Foundation, can provide shelter, food, clothing, education, and most importantly, a relationship with Jesus, to these precious orphans. God gave us our commission in James 1:27 when He told us “…to look after orphans and widows in their distress.” Eastpointers are helping to make a crucial difference in the lives of these hurting children by simply throwing loose change in a special Say Yebo bottle and turning it in to Eastpoint every month. Jesus said that He was anointed “to preach the gospel to the poor.” If we are to follow in His steps we must do the same. Every cottage and every village established by Say Yebo becomes a new church plant that evangelizes and disciples the orphans and widows under its care.
- The Agathos Foundation provides Southern Africa’s AIDS orphans and elderly with a familial environment that allows them to achieve healthy, prosperous, and fulfilling lives, by meeting physical, emotional, and spiritual needs critical to their advancement. The crisis in Africa has already left nearly 14 million orphans in its wake. Within the next five years, another 10 million children will be orphaned, many of these in critical need of basic care. As the Church, we must not turn our backs on the clear command of Scripture to help these children. We should prayerfully ponder the rhetorical question the apostle John poses in 1 John 3:17: “But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?” (ESV)
Vision Nationals
- “At Vision Nationals we are passionate about equipping nationals to plant churches to reach nationals for Jesus Christ. To this end, we provide multiple educational opportunities and training programs for pastors and future church planters as well as care for the orphans and widows in our midst.” Church planting, children’s homes, relief work, and education – Vision Nationals’ ministries vary widely in scope and kind. Today Vision Nationals is working in India, Thailand and Nepal to equip nationals to plant churches to reach nationals for Jesus Christ, provide educational opportunities and training programs for pastors and future church planters as well as care for orphans and widows. The ministries based out of each location is uniquely situated to the context and culture of that country. Since 1992 Vision Nationals has planted over 100 Churches. Much of this work is done in rural villages where there has never been a church. We praise God for bringing the walls down to build His kingdom. Eastpoint’s support goes towards helping more than 50 Church Planters and Pastors as they establish their Churches in these rural areas.
